Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I was born in California and raised in Utah, where I went to college and earned (and I mean EARNED) a degree in Chemistry. I met my husband while there and we were married shortly after I finished school. I love to explore new places, so I really enjoyed the adventures my family went on while my husband was in the military. It's always been a passion of mine to travel around the world and photograph what I encounter. I still hope to do that more and more.
How many kids do you have and what ages?
I have three, and they are 7, 5 and 2
What do you like to do for fun? Do you have any hobbies?
Oh, I think as long as I'm out of the house exploring and being with friends, I'm having fun. I really love being outside (would be great if some more of that sunshine would come out). I have a passion for hiking that I've had for a very long time, something about standing on the tops of peaks that I've always been in love with.
And, of course, photography. I am beyond grateful that it's a job and a hobby. I've loved it since I was very little and while I'm fortunate to have it turning into a career, I would be creating photos no matter what.
You are a photographer, an amazing one at that! Tell us a little about your business and how you juggle being a mom and running your own business.
Awww, thank you. I really love what I do, I think that makes all the difference in one's work. Much like yourself.
I do run a part-time photography business, which is growing everyday (thank you to my loyal clients). It's been a hard path learning how to juggle being a mom and keeping up with my business. I wish there was some secret recipe for juggling the stress from day to day but there isn't. Not for me. I really think it comes down to a combination of motivation and letting some of it go. I routinely drop the balls I'm juggling, (kids, house, business, exercise) but I just pick it back up and try to move forward with a better plan to keep it up in the air.
Do you have any tips for us moms that run our own businesses that makes life easier for you and your family?
Get exercise everyday. I have far more energy to deal with it all when I'm taking care of myself in that way.
Take one night off a week, we have movie night Friday and we pig out on junk food, stay up late and watch movies the kids get to pick. It's a nice break from the routine for all of us.
What is your favorite piece of jewelry and what do you love about it?
Oh, my favorite is the stone cluster necklace my husband got me for my birthday. I love it because it's unique but versatile. I can wear it with almost anything. It dresses up a plain v-neck T-shirt but goes nicely with a casual dress. It's perfect, and I have yet to wear it and not get a compliment.
That said, I really love my "Adventure" necklace. I wear it most often as a reminder to myself that dreams can be achieved that the greatest adventures are unique and may mean something to only you.
